Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process – JUSTE (Journal of Science and Technology)

Each manuscript submitted to JUSTE (Journal of Science and Technology) undergoes an initial screening by the editorial team. The editor will determine whether the manuscript aligns with the journal’s focus and scope, and assess for any major methodological issues or high similarity index using the iThenticate tool. All submissions must be free from any indication of plagiarism.

Prior to being sent to peer reviewers, each article is checked for similarity by a member of the editorial team. Manuscripts submitted to JUSTE are required to have a similarity score below 25%.

Every submission is evaluated by at least two independent peer reviewers to assess the manuscript’s contribution, originality, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Reviewers will provide constructive feedback and scientific assessments. These comments are then forwarded to the corresponding author for revision and response. Each reviewer is allotted a maximum of three (3) weeks to complete their review. If a reviewer does not respond within this timeframe, the editor will assign a replacement reviewer with comparable expertise.

Review Decision Categories

Following the peer review process, the editor will make one of the following decisions based on the reviewers’ recommendations:

  1. Reject – The manuscript is not suitable for publication and will not be reconsidered.

  2. Resubmit for Review – Substantial revisions are needed, and a revised manuscript will be subjected to another round of peer review.

  3. Accept with Revisions – The manuscript will be accepted pending minor or major revisions. These revisions will be reviewed by the editor before final acceptance.

  4. Accept – The manuscript is accepted in its current form and will proceed to publication without additional changes.

All editorial decisions are finalized during an editorial board meeting. The final outcome is then communicated to the corresponding author.

Authors are expected to respond to reviewers’ and editors’ feedback and submit a revised manuscript within a maximum period of four weeks.

Correspondence

All communications related to manuscript submission and review should be directed to the Editor of JUSTE (Journal of Science and Technology) via the Open Journal System (OJS). The editor will correspond with the lead author, who is responsible for communicating updates to co-authors.

Post-Acceptance Process

Once accepted, the manuscript will undergo final editing by the editorial team of JUSTE (Journal of Science and Technology), managed by LLDIKTI Wilayah XII.
