Publication Ethics

Ethical Statement

JUSTE (Journal of Science and Technology) (p-ISSN: 2745-4371 & e-ISSN: 2746-0878) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by LLDIKTI Wilayah XII, dedicated to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and committed to taking all necessary actions to prevent publication misconduct. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process of this journal, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. The ethical guidelines are based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Our primary responsibility is to ensure the publication of original, high-quality scholarly work that contributes meaningfully to the academic community. We expect authors to demonstrate integrity, originality, and fairness; and we require editors and reviewers to act with objectivity, confidentiality, and impartiality. JUSTE adheres to best practices in addressing ethical issues, correcting errors, issuing retractions when necessary, and providing legal review if required.

Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions

The editors of JUSTE are responsible for ensuring that all submitted manuscripts undergo a fair and thorough peer-review process by at least two qualified reviewers. Editorial decisions regarding acceptance or rejection are based on the scientific merit, originality, clarity, relevance to the journal’s scope, reviewers’ evaluations, and any legal obligations regarding libel, copyright infringement, or plagiarism. Editors may consult with other editorial board members or reviewers to support their decision-making.

Fair Evaluation

Manuscripts are assessed solely on their intellectual content without regard to the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnicity, nationality, political ideology, or institutional affiliation. Editorial decisions are made independently of external pressures from governments or other organizations. The Editor-in-Chief holds full authority over the editorial content and publication schedule of the journal.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of all information related to submitted manuscripts. This includes not disclosing any details to individuals other than the corresponding author, assigned reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisors, or the publisher, as necessary.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished materials from submitted manuscripts in their own research without written consent from the authors. Any privileged information or insights obtained through handling submissions must be treated confidentially and not used for personal advantage. Editors are expected to recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or financial relationships with any of the authors, institutions, or companies involved. In such cases, the editorial task will be reassigned to another qualified member of the editorial team.

Handling Unethical Behavior

Editors, in collaboration with the publisher, are responsible for addressing any allegations of unethical behavior related to submitted or published articles. All complaints of ethical misconduct will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly, even if raised years after publication. Appropriate corrective actions will be taken based on the outcomes of these investigations.
